Bio

Elicia Sanchez is a Seattle-based stand-up comedian, writer and comic book reader. Her self-deprecating, yet upbeat comedic style includes of a mix of personal stories, nerdy obsessions and social politics that has been described by The Capitol Hill Times as "madcap tales of social incompetence."  Popular Seattle alt weekly, The Stranger has called her "very funny" and a "local favorite."  Writer/activist Lindy West has called her, "a grumpy nugget of delight," and Grammy Award winning singer/song-writer Kimya Dawson (The Moldy Peaches, Juno) has cited Elicia as one of her favorite Northwest comedians. W. Kamau Bell, creator and host of the critically-acclaimed FXX series Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell, once said, "Elicia Sanchez is the truth.”  Elicia has performed at Bumbershoot, the Bridgetown Comedy Festival, the AJND Comedy Festival, Northwest Comedy Fest, Emerald City Comicon, Autostraddle’s annual LGBTQ event A-Camp and has appeared on The Bob Rivers Show, NPR’s Latino USA and the Seattle-based sketch television show “The [206].”  Her writing credits include articles for websites Autostraddle, Capeless Crusader, Have You Nerd? and Jezebel.
